Make sure you meet the conditions for being seated at an exit seat
Please read this important notice carefully if you intend to be seated at an emergency exit. Exit row seats are situated either next to or immediately behind the emergency exit door, and are allocated under Civil Aviation Authorities regulations and our Conditions of Carriage.
Passengers occupying exit row seats must fulfill specific requirements. If you are seated at an emergency exit, you must:
- be at least 15 years of age.
- be able to locate the emergency exit.
- be able to assist crew members and other passengers in the event of an emergency.
- be able to understand and follow commands and hand signals given by Cabin Crew during an emergency evacuation.
- be able to assess whether opening the emergency exit will increase the hazards to which passengers may be exposed.
- possess the strength, dexterity or mobility in both arms, hands and legs to quickly open the exit, clear the exit row of obstructions, where applicable, dispose of the emergency exit door so that it will not impede the use of the exit and then evacuate. (Window hatches do not weigh more than 20kg).
- if applicable, be able to activate an escape slide, check its inflation and stability prior to evacuation.
- be willing to help other passengers once outside.
- be able to assess, select and follow a safe path away from the aircraft.
have no responsibilities such as caring for small children and be free from any discernible condition that might prevent you from performing the applicable functions; notably, pregnant women and passengers with reduced mobility are not eligible for exit seats. - be able to perform these functions without harming yourself due to an existing condition.
Exit row seats are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable.
Exit seats are not guaranteed even if the seat reservation is confirmed, and Air Mauritius reserves the right to change the seating for operational, safety or, security or medical emergency reasons, even after boarding the aircraft, in which case a full refund of the price paid to reserve a specific seat, where applicable, will be given. Air Mauritius decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
